Basic Formatting
Though you know it's an important part of making your book look professional and appealing to read, you may not have the time (or the desire) to worry about formatting your words yourself. That's where Lulu's formatting service can help. Choose from four different formatting service options and Lulu will carefully review and format your book for publication. By the time we’re done, your book will look better than ever.
Formatted with Microsoft Word, you will be able to select one of five different templates for the layout, consisting of a variety of fonts and styles for headers, footers, margins, and page numbers. This is a simple solution to making your book ready for the masses.
Text Formatting $200.00 (included in a Custom Publishing Pack)
Service includes:
- Six book interior layout templates to select from
- Correction of extra white space, paragraph indents, mixed fonts, headers and footers, page numbering, proper order of front material, and an updated table of contents
- Formatting does not correct typos, misspellings, incorrect wording, incorrect punctuation, or other editorial issues. These issues can be addressed by an Editor’s Analysis, which is included in the Publishing Pack
What to submit:
- Your final, proofread manuscript file
- Your ISBN, if you have one. We recommend that you obtain an ISBN before beginning this service, since your ISBN must appear on your copyright page as per Lulu’s Mandatory Distribution Requirements.
You will receive:
- A PDF as well as a Word version of your formatted manuscript
After purchasing the service, Lulu will send you instructions on how to select your page design template and how to submit your file.
Light Formatting $250.00 (included in a Custom Publishing Pack)
Service includes:
- Six book interior layout templates to select from

- Placement of a maximum of ten images. We won’t crop, resize, or otherwise change your images. What you submit to us is what will be placed on the page

What to submit:

This option allows for unlimited use of images, which makes Custom Formatting the perfect solution for children’s books, portfolios and image books.
Kids' Book Formatting $300.00 (included in a Custom Publishing Pack)
Service includes:
- Custom formatting tailored to your book

- Unlimited use of images. We won’t crop, resize, or otherwise change your images. What you submit to us is what will be placed on the page
- Up to 75 pages
